Background
Firstly, hello there, I’m Nicola. Initially from an agency background, I joined the digital advertising world as an animator. You needed a web banner? I was your mac-monkey! Not satisfied with just working in animation, I quickly turned my talents towards designing and concepting. In under 5 years I had climbed the creative ladder from junior designer to art director.
Experience
After completing university with a degree in media production I co-founded Lungfish Studio – a company producing web and television content such as animations and games for the likes of Nickelodeon, Channel 4 and MTV. When not working for clients we would create viral content such as the David Blaine game which was featured on television, tabloid papers and creative magazines.
I later took a full time position as a digital designer which not only allowed my skills as a creative to grow but introduced me to all aspects of digital marketing. With an understanding of media, tech, and planning I was able to expand into concepting ideas as well as production.
At the end of 2010 I left my agency as an art director where I had been concepting and overseeing production for the likes of Pizza Hut, BAA and Research In Motion in favour of trying the freelance world. Now, over a year on, I maintain a happy balance of client work and personal projects.
