One Host, Four Comedians, No Rules

FAQ U (pronounced ‘Fack You’) was a Channel 4 comedy panel show. Featuring presenters such as David Mitchell and Justin Lee Collins, they would pose ‘frequently asked questions’ to a celebrity guest panel and live studio audience in the hopes of receiving some humorous answers.
As Lungfish Studio , we were shortlisted to provided concepts for the opening title sequence, then after successfully winning the pitch, we were commissioned to produce the final animation.
Initially we pitched two routes, a fast-paced series of random icons and a comicstrip-syle rocket ship full of monkeys heading to the sun.
The grunge route proved the most popular, poor monkeys…
Visual
After it was confirmation of the opening title music (Kaiser Chief’s indie rock classic ‘Na Na Na Na Naa’) the visual style was developed to compliment the track.
The animation was given an art-punk style that animatedat a thumping pace that synced to the musical beat. Using a photocopy/scanning whipe we could transition between key frames and update content (such as the host’s image and name) easily.
