What Up?
Fun, uninformative, and perhaps slightly racist, Aks Jeeves achieved viral success in 2003 by spoofing a well known search engine.
Created under our online pseudonym Brian Mung, Aks allowed the audience to search for whatever answer they seek, but ultimately the badass butler would always answer in a Samuel L Jackson-esque tone. Aks quickly spread across the web, popping up entrainment sites such as Ebaum’s World, entry into the Urban Dictionary, and even into the press.
Uh-oh, Laywer Alert!
I guess you could say Aks was a little too successful as after a couple of weeks we received letters for a certain search engine’s lawyers threatening legal action if the page was not swiftly taken down. Needless to say we sharply pulled the plug, however what with the internet’s wild west status Aks had been ripped off and placed on several other entertainment sites and blogs. That was a lot of sites we had to write to that day…

Aks is still up and running on Ebaum’s World if you ever feel like dropping some knowledge.
