Chimps In Space

In 2005 Channel 4 asked myself and the Lungfish Studio team to come up with a concept for their comedy panel show FAQ U (Pronounced ‘Fack You’). The show was presented by a number of hosts including the likes of David Mitchell and Justin Lee Collins with the premise of asking frequently asked questions and getting comical responses from their celebrity guests and studio audience.
The concept brief was pretty open leaving us lots of ideas to play with. We presented two.
Route 1
The first, and the successful concept, was a series of random icons and playing in a quick and punchy procession.

Route 2
The second… the host of the show piolting a rocket ship of chimps into the sun. To be perfectly honest, I can’t remember the thinking behind this route. Stylistically, comicbook movies such as Spiderman2 were proving popular at the time, so the into sequence had a comicbook panel approach, however how exploding chimps into the sun encapsulated ‘Frequently asked questions’ I do not recal. I guess there are the theme of ‘randomness’ in there….
